| no partners | | | Beautiful fall day. Surprised that there were not too many people on the trail which was surprising. Hiked from the west trailhead over to East Peak. We hiked to Grand Prospect back in January and the snow then made for slow going. So much easier today. Mt. Rainier was barely visible at the East Peak radio tower but I did find a much better viewpoint about 1 mile from Grand Prospect along an old logging road. When you come to the trail sign that says East Peak is 1.3 miles, go through the gate. You then will have three choices: Right, Left or Middle Left. Take the middle left road and you'll get great views of Mt. Rainier in no time. Not much fall color yet but in another week or two this should be great hike to see some fall color. |
