A couple of sections of trail are cobblestone, so well constructed they could have been built ten years ago instead of a hundred
Nice hike going in; light rain just as I left the spring on the way out felt good, but as I hit the junction with Hermit's trail I caught up with two young women from New Jersy hiking out from Santa Maria Spring and we were hit by thunderstorm. Wind driven rain so hard it actually stung the face. We finally found a little protection in a slight alcove in the cliff side for about five minutes. Don't think I've been that wet in the shower. Glad I was past the sections of trail that are little more than narrow paths worn in the side of a steep slope
Traildex lists this as 6 miles; Grand Canyon Guide lists it as 7 miles. My GPS had it at 6.31. |
