| no partners | | I completed this short hike with a friend a few months back and just decided to post -- it was a short hike but beautiful scenery. At the end of the trail was the "Whistler Train Wreck", several trains cars that derailed circa 1956. I wondered why there weren't any downed trees around the cars and just discovered that the derailed cars were dragged away from the tracks to their "final resting place" -- therefore no downed trees nearby. The river that runs along the track is the Cheakamus River. The wreck is actually in Function Junction, a town named after the wreck occurred, that is just south of Whistler BC. The graffiti artwork was a real treat. The area near the wreck was obviously used by trick bike riders. |
