A good friend of ours took us out on the Navajo Rez to look at hogan ruins and also into an area where it was known some Navajos hid from the Spanish. We checked out some areas on top of a mesa and then realized another mesa across the wide valley in front us might be interesting. My friend hadn't been there so we started over. Going along the base of the mesa I kept saying there has to be granaries or something here. We came upon a boulder with holes in it for roof support beams and in a crevice were some petros with horses. No doubt historic time period. We were about to wonder on, but I kept scanning the high cliff walls with my binocs. I know there has to be stuff up there. I took out my digital camera, took a photo and while viewing the image I enlarged and it. Holy cow the wall is covered! Prehistoric, historic and contemporary. |
