| no partners | | I had originally planned on going to Death Valley this week and coming back thru Nevada and Utah. I had to cancel these plans and head to Ohio for an unexpected family emergency. Having the next week off, and not anywhere near Death Valley, I decided to drive up to Sault Ste Marie. My sister and I where supposed to drive back into the states thru Sault Ste Marie about 18 years ago. We ended up picking another route and coming back into the states at Detroit. So, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan has been on my list ever since.
I arrived at the locks as soon as they opened at 9am. I spent about 50 minutes watching a ship come in to the lock, raise 21 feet, then go on their way. I walked around a bit, then headed to my next stop. Sault Ste Marie ended up being the midpoint of this 5600 mile road trip. |
