I was talking with my mother, on the phone, as I was driving through Connecticut. She mentioned this old church that has some deep family ties. She has wanted to visit this church for some time. I told her I would stop by and take some pictures. Since I stopped by on a Sunday, there where plenty of people there that knew the history of the church. The original church was built in the early 1600s and rebuilt in the 1800s. There is a stained glass window of one of the first Ferris's to come to the New World(1610-1666.) He was the second Reverend of the church. I visited for a while, then stopped by two cemeteries. There are over 50 Ferris sites at these locations.
This stop added 6 hours to todays portion of the trip. It made for a long day.. |
