Normally I don't do logs for in-town dayhikes except when it's noteworthy. Yesterday was noteworthy for two reasons: first time I've bailed because of air quality and first time I've seen a non-echo-canyon trailhead full at 2:30p on a Wednesday.

Snowbirds or new transplants? Hard to tell. They mostly stand around about 50 ft in from the trailhead taking photos while cars are lined up waiting for parking. I don't get it. Can't they just head over to LDSP and drive 30mph in the 50mph zone on their way to the tourist trap or something? That's how it's supposed to work. Dang it they're screwing up the system. Not much to photograph out here, just a bunch of smog hanging in the air.

On top of Peak 1916 could barely make out the sky line due to smoke and pollution. Had to call it quits 45 mins in because of the coughing and mild asthma attack vis a vis air quality.

Should be a fascinating experience once the birds finish their AirBnB exodus and fireplaces get lit at the justifiably frigid 50 degrees. Anyone know where I can get some N95's? No not for corvids - mainly for the smoke. Sorry for the overly cynical triplog but day after day Phx gets a step closer to nuking mah fridge.
