I was planning on doing Agua Caliente Hill this weekend. I didn't have enough time on Saturday and things popped up in the afternoon of today. I decided I would find a shorter trail to hike in the time I had. Babad Do'ag popped out. It was a short trail, not too steep on the side of the Mount Lemmon Highway that I would always see a sign for when driving up the road.

I packed a banana and 2 liters of water. I got to the trailhead. It was insanely windy (no good). I made my way across the relatively empty highway and to the trailhead. The trail was fun at first, immediately getting steep with the first little portion of it being just granite slabs. I continued on through the tall, dead grass on both sides of the trail, the wind staying consistent. I saw a lady with a puppy and as I was saying hello the puppy ran up to me and licked my face. Oh well. I made my way over to the part of the trail closest to Peak 3998. I decided to go up it, only being about 100 feet away and practically seeing a trail to the top. I got to the summit and it was unbelievably windy. Standing on top of the summit rock it was even windier. Fun.

I got back to the trail and started moving again. I went through more grassland until I got to a little side trail. Going down it for a couple feet lead me to a very nice view of Molino Canyon. Continuing up the gradual switchbacks I made it to a turn in the trail and the shadow of the ridge above took over the trail. The wind relaxed into a breeze. The trail sort of "wiggled" from back and forth as it continued. There were a couple oaks and other types of trees along the trail which made it even better. I made it over to a ridge again. Met by the sun and therefore the wind. I went up a side trail to a peak. It offered some pretty good views of Molino Canyon and the Babad Do'ag drainage. I looked up at Peak 4780 thinking, "I could hike that." I didn't have all day so I didn't. I made my way to the end of the trail.

At the end of the trail I sat down, had some water, and had a banana. After doing that I headed back. The initial part heading back was a bit steeper and harder than I remembered coming up but I made it through. I don't have a lot to say about heading down. I made it to the trailhead and finished up the hike.

This trail was a lot of fun and very rewarding for it's milage and elevation gain. :D :D :D
