First of all there was quite a bit of wildfire smoke and haze in the area this morning from fires in the GC, Moab, Gunnison ( North and South of the Black canyon areas. After driving to the trailhead, Rudy and I set out, on a new to us trail. This appears to be more of a multi-use trail. Plenty of bike, foot and horse tracks in the trail bed.
There’s really nice shade from the pines in the area, and much to Rudy’s liking plenty of squirrels to keep an eye on too. This area, like so much of the West is so very dry. Little fires getting started and reported almost hourly. Keeping that in mind, I actually moved my camp and oriented my truck for a quick exit if anything changes. |
