| no partners | | Fall colors on the rim tend to progress on a sliding scale, and this year that scale hit a 4-day hurricane right in the middle. What remained at the end was whatever was still green before the storm. In subsequent days those greens began their transition while all the previous leaves were on the ground. As a result, past prime, not spectacular, but still some highlights.
Hit up four different favorites, just an easy couple of miles each. Sadly, no bears today, which might drop my percentage to just under 50/50 in this area in October now. Not at all unusual though, spooked a monster bull elk and his harem of a half dozen cows. Sometimes they make a lot of noise getting away. Other times, it's impressive how thousands of pounds of delicious meat can so silently move through the forest. |
