It took about an hour to get to the trail head from I-17 on a pretty decent dirt road. Quite an elevation drop, wasn't bad going down but on the hike out we were huffing and puffing pretty hard. Sweet swimming hole.
Some tips:
-don't leave valuables in your car, I've read about many people getting burglarized
-once you get to the creek bed at the bottom of the canyon leave the trail and just scramble down the creek for a while until you come to a big 'ole waterfall
-rope down falls is on the left as you approach the drop off
-bring some rope just in case the one that is there now isn't there later
-great trees for a hammock right by the pool
-deepest part of pool was only about 7 feet (May 2) so be careful when jumping off the cliffs
-early afternoon the pool is in full sun, later in the afternoon it is all shaded |
