| no partners | | Brad and I hiked up Browns Peak today in the snow. All the rain last week amounted to a lot of snow up there. The weather was awesome out. With this heat the snow will probably melt in a few days. Once we got to the Scree Chute it was knee deep most of the time. Well thats at least how far the snow compacts before you stop. We fell in waist deep a few times also.It was nice surprise to follow foot steps about 1/3 of the way up the chute but then they turned around. So we were the 1st up there since the heavy snow. It was actually harder going up than it was coming back down. There was an Icehouse beer and a pair of binoculars next to the Peak Log. On the way back down the top 1/3 of the chute was pretty steep, but the snow was great. Just one foot behind the next and it would give you a nice step of snow. After that point we both took on a human sledding idea which worked quite well as it wasn't as steep. Rather fun though as long as it was controlled. Brad had joked of the idea of sledding down on the way up the chute and I though he was nuts but it worked out quite well. There were tons of people at the trailhead once we got back to it. Also tons of ATV people on the Forest Road back to the highway.
