We went over to the Source Lake overlook and decided to take the old trail up from there, which turned out to be a great decision. Views and trail past the Boulder field were excellent, reminded me of Sky Pond in RMNP. Lake was gorgeous of course, but got to see a lot of runoff and other cool views going up this way, which was a highlight.

You won't be alone on this hike. Trail to the lake is snow free. Go early if you want to have some quality solitude time at the lake. I started just before 8AM and so the lake wasn't crowded when I arrived. But on my way down I must have passed over 100 people. I kid you not. The lake is beautiful though.
