About 2 miles in the trail ends where the canyon walls close in. I suppose you could go in further but it would be a bushwhack and rock scramble. Joshua Trees along the lower portion of the trail. No running water but pools along the creek in the upper canyon. During the wet seasons there are some water falls in this area. Did see 4 burros on our return trip. They were kind enough to let us photograph them. Amazing view of the mountain ridge along the west side of Red Rock Canyon. |

| no partners | | | I almost shied away from this hike when I saw the amount of cars at the trailhead. I should know better going to Red Rocks on the weekend, especially a weekend with such beautiful weather. Fortunately everyone was pretty spread out. I took as many of the unimproved trails as I could to steer clear of others. Plenty of little lizards showing off their push ups to me. Made my way to the waterfall. There I found a hiking club of 20+ adults (55 years and up). I explored the creek for a while, waiting for them to finish enjoying the waterfall. I meandered off a bit after the waterfall just taking in the gorgeous weather. I ran into some burros on my way back, they were some healthy looking fellas! |
