It is special now that all petroglyphs in Petrified National Monument can only be viewed from quite a distance(binoculars). Sure you pay, but it is worth it. The museums are a view, not only into native Indian history but real Arizona cowboy history. The owner is a living legend and he has been collecting artifacts for seventy years. His personal collection will leave you in awe. By the way, hikearizona.com gets a plug in his literature.
Today we had the place to ourselves and opted to browse without a guide. Not a problem, the owner gave us a key and asked that we lock up. Good old Arizona hospitality. |
