Great overnight in the Desolation Wilderness. Not too strenuous, not too easy. Good for a quick trip close to home.

Camping at Wrights Lake near the Desolation Wilderness gave me easy access to the Lyons Creek Trail for an nice early morning run/hike up to Sylvia Lake. I really wanted to hike Pyramid Peak, until I arrived at the lake and saw how steep and rugged the ascent would've been (nearly 2,000 ft of vert in 1 mile). Being solo, having a limited amount of time, and no existing trail made me play it safe and just enjoy the easy miles back to the trailhead.

If anyone is looking for a nice and casual or beginner backpacking trip, this is the place to go!
