Walked the river view portion. As we were traveling via cycle we were not equipped to get wet. On a future trip we hope to see Wall Street or some narrow side canyon.

Hiked the Narrows to Orderville Canyon, then up Orderville to the turnaround point at Veiled Falls, then back up the Narrows a bit more through Wall Street.
We started with a visit to Zion Adventure Company on Friday ... that place rocks! We watched their Narrows orientation video, then rented the $21 package of neoprene booties, canyon boots, and hiking stick - well worth the price.
The hike was pretty crowded, but we had a blast nonetheless ... will return next summer to do the top down overnight and/or the Subway.
We loved Zion so much that we are going back next week!

The Virgin River has carved a spectacular gorge in the upper reaches of Zion National Park: The canyon is 16 miles long, up to 2,000-feet deep and at times only 20 to 30-feet wide, The Narrows, with its soaring walls, sandstone grottos, natural springs, and hanging gardens can be an unforgettable and spectacular wilderness experience.

“One of the world's best canyon hikes” – Utah.com

As a challenging off-trail non-technical water hike, this trip is well suited to experienced and fit backpackers. If we haven’t hiked together before, we’ll need to visit about your readiness.

We arrived in Zion in the afternoon on Friday and decided to do the riverside walk and then go into the narrows from there. As we were walking, we noticed the river didn't seem as crystal clear or blue as it was last year. boo. The water was also FREEZING. I brought my new trekking poles with for the journey, which DEFINITELY came in handy. The merky water made it difficult to find good footing. There were several people at the start of the narrows hike, but the numbers dropped quickly due to the cool water. We went for a little ways but decided there was no way we would be able to make it all the way to our destination, plus we were loosing light, so we turned around  We saw some people who rented gear and were just floating down the river (AWESOME!), so we are thinking next time we will try that. Also, we hope the water will be a little more clear upon our return. The canyons are just so incredible that, even though we didn't make it as far as we planned, it was beyond gorgeous and enjoyable. The canyons glow red as the sun starts going down, and the greens are just perfect next to the water. Zion is truly breathtaking!
