This time I am on another 6nt/7day (6/16 to 6/22) heat escape semi-primitive camping/hiking trip to our Mogollon Rim-Cabin Loop area. I took this day #3 off for some R&R around the campsite while gpsjoe and Marland hiked the Fred Haught Trail. I started feeling guilty for hanging around all day doing nothing when they arrived back to our campsite around 1pm. I managed to talk gpsjoe into a white knuckle Jeep ride in my "Grasshopper" for a 12.5 mile one way dirt roads drive to FR300-->FR145->FR145A for my second attempt to locate this elusive Floyd Spring, this time approaching from the Rim Top and hiking down to it.
It was another fun (for me) exploratory trip with some interesting GPS "off trail" route finding and a nice drive on some local, remote forest roads, but unfortunately I am sad to report that Floyd Spring no longer exists.. Thanks Joe for joining me and having a good sense of humor! |
