Arrived at the trailhead around 11.In Vancouver when we left things looked a little bleak but the weather was good at the trailhead. When we hit the first viewpoint at 0.8 miles, a great view of Mt. Hood. Upon reaching the second meadow, we found bear grass galore! Never seen so much in such a little area. My pants were caked in yellow pollen! Such a nice smell as well. We continued on to the third meadow and enjoyed lunch at the bench with a perfect view of Mt. Hood. In addition to the plentiful bear grass, there was lots of indian paintbrush as well as some nice blue flowers (I don't know the name) at the third meadow. Didn't see a soul until our way back down where we passed one couple near the trailhead. As others have mentioned, the sounds of target shooters were a little un-nerving. If not for that, it would have been a very peaceful hike. We didn't go to Wildcat mountain, but had great views nonetheless. Rhododendrons were blooming as well. A week earlier we were a little early to see them in the Bull of the Woods Wilderness but here we got the timing great. For such a close hike, very isolated and peaceful (except for the aforementioned gun sounds).
