It was good to hike something besides Shell Ridge. It was also good that it gave me an excuse to get takeout green chile enchiladas from Dos Coyotes :D The first part was up the moderately steep and unrelenting Rocky Ridge View Trail. I was rewarded with a view of San Francisco and quite a bit of the bay area when we reached the top of the ridge. Rocky Ridge is a 2-mile-long ridge on the west side of Danville, and is one of the more popular hiking spots in the East Bay. We got lucky as there wasn't much of a crowd when I started. It was a zoo when we finished, however.

Did this route with the East Bay Casual Hiking Group (EBCHG). Started at the TH at the end of Bollinger Canyon Road. Went up Chamise to Mahogany Trail. Mahogany went down then up to the Trapline Trail. Up the Trapline Trail to its intersection with the Las Trampas Ridge Trail. Down Sulphur Springs Trail then back up Del Amigo Trail to the Las Trampas Ridge Trail. Las Trampas Ridge back and then down to the west side of the Bollinger Creek Loop trail to the parking lot.
Great group and a cool hike. Lots of up and down, and the uphill portions were pretty steep. Thanks to Howard for leading, and the Chrises for helping out. Gorgeous day if a bit warm.

Temps in the East Bay reached 105 the previous Monday, but were a beautiful 77 on Sunday afternoon. Cool hike with great views. Typical California country. Lots and lots of raptors. I did a farmer-blow, and got it all over my shirt right before passing some cute wahines going the opposite direction near the summit.
