This was the first hike this year that I thought could be considered warm, and it wasn't that warm. Just warm for a California weather wuss which is apparently what I've turned into. The waterfalls were a little smaller than they were the week before, but the wildflower display continues to be ridiculous. This spring around the greater Bay Area has had the best wildflower display I have seen.

Fun hike that was a pretty good workout that was made even more of a challenge because of last night's late night fun. The waterfalls were raging, the wildflowers put on the best show I've seen on El Diablo, and the crowds were out in force. Dealing with lots of people on a hike is annoying on one hand, but it's more than counteracted by the heartening fact that more and more people are becoming fans of low impact outdoor recreation. I'm sure the homeowners on Regency Drive aren't fans of having their street turned into a huge parking lot during wildflower season. Today had the absolutely perfect combination of blue sky, not being cold, the trails being dry, the wildflowers doing their thang, and the waterfalls going nuts.

Ridiculous. See pictures for more. The poppies have only just started to get going, and in only a few spots. This is going to be a special year in Northern California.

I hadn't hiked here in a long time so I jumped at the chance to do it again. It's green everywhere, and the creeks were flowing strongly. We made pretty good time because we were both hungry, and because it got chilly pretty quickly once the late afternoon shade overtook the entire area. I added 0.23 mile and 20' of AEG to correct for my GPS taking a while to get going. This one does not wait to hike. ES.

Pretty tough, short hike. The second mile was a real butt-kicker. Unfortunately the haziness cut down on the views, but a good workout.

Ive climbed Mt Diablo several times both from different sides. Not a bad hike. Was kinda tough back in the day when I first started hiking, but compared to recent hikes this one is a piece of cake. Great views from the top.
