Jennifer and I decided since the weather was cool and we didn't have our kids for Christmas this year, we'd take on Iron Mountain. Iron Mountain is not hard, but it's a longer summit hike on the outskirts of San Diego. Lots of people with the same idea that day. Having a peak to conquer and some geocaches to gather, we made the assent in a drizzling rain. Pretty view from the top. We made way back down and treated ourselves to some Mexican food and a cool cerveza. Another one done!

Spotted the sign on the drive in from the desert. Humid, cold, and there was fog visible lower down. However, I could see the ocean, which is a first in many year. Extremely busy. I definitely prefer the desert, or the interior continental areas.

Met up with old pal, Ray, and the hiking group I had met at Phantom Ranch in Sept. (when I was on a river trip) to climb this very popular little mountain near Poway and Ramona. A very clear day, so you could see all the islands in the ocean, plus San Gorgonio, etc. This was the first time I'd hiked with this group, and I enjoyed meeting everyone. Good bunch of hikers!

Went to CA to visit family and my bro-in-law suggested Iron Mountain and I liked it a lot, it was relatively short but I enjoyed it. I recommend this one!

Quick early trip up Iron Mountain in San Diego. A very nice little hike with some mighty impressive views east into the bulk of Cleveland National Forest. We started early and it was pretty cool on the top.
