Got lucky with minimal rain, just a few sprinkles early on. Great hike. Fall colors were beautiful as were the falls of course.
Alone at the falls, great spot for a wedding proposal ;)

Parking at this trailhead costs $5 unless you are parked eating at the Char Burger and then walk across the street. Another gross green trail with shade and trees much bigger than thorny bushes.

I told Noel there was a 30% chance I was going in. She took her phone camera out immediately.

Beautiful weather today so we opted for a short hike to Dry Creek Falls near Cascade Locks. Still a little early for wildflowers but the falls were nice. Even got some views of Mt. Adams along the way. Some flowers here and there but still a little early. We did this same hike last year mid-April and the amount of flowers was about the same so it looks like this year will be a little later when compared to last year. Still a nice hike so close to home. Saw quite a few people along the trail. Was disappointed to see several bags of dog poop (?) along the trail at the beginning but was pleasantly suprised to see them gone on our return trip.

With the weather looking nice, decided to take the short hike to Dry Creek Falls and we were not disappointed. Rolled into the Bridge of the Gods trailhead around noon. the wildflowers are starting to come out in full force. Another week or two and it shoudl really be nice. There is noticeable freeway noise at the start but with the nice weather we couldn't complain. Met a few folks on the way in but had the falls to ourselves when we arrived just before 1 PM. While it may not be as famous as some of the other Gorge waterfalls, it is no less beautiful. Very nice indeed. With the shortness of the hike, it's definitely one we'll take friends/family on when they visit. As we left the falls we passed a group of about 10 or people. We saw several other parties on the way back. Will have to think about combining this with a hike of Herman Creek in the future (assuming we get an earlier start). All in all, a can't miss hike for the Gorge area!
