| no partners | | I don't usually put Yuma on my map -- at all. And certainly not in August.
But Hilary was moister than an oyster so I decided to take a dip.
This was slated to be an easy afternoon loop. It was 75 and raining. Quite a lovely August day actually. My first checkbox in this, the crown of America's wilderness system (tough to argue it's also the jewel. Without Klothos, it wouldn't be a crown either).
I was gonna go ccw, but the kiosk seemed to direct hikers cw, so that's what I did. I immediately got off track following a well-worn, and very-well-cairned route heading to the west. I fixed that quick enough!
This is desolate wilderness (but about 400 standard deviations below the beauty of Desolation Wilderness). The rock is black and would be hot even on a sunny day in December. A rainy day here is perfect.
Can't say I'll be back on the loop. But the peaks look worthwhile for another visit. |
