I basically started a the Toes, and went as far west as the abandoned farming area out by Laguna Creek. Nothing but weeds, a number of cows, and a few old sad Apricot Trees with no fruit. BTW, the Apricots trees I have eaten fruit from in people yards are the best Apricots I have ever had. Warm, soft, super sweet, and red to orange, not pale yellow. I came back on the canal road, and then in a wash to the TH. I added in a couple hundred feet, as I easily gain that on my hike out, and estimated 7 miles. I think that may be accurate. I posted a lot of pics for a few reasons, but mostly because this represents the are very well and it was a nice day.

I was going to go and do Pt 6919, but I had to turn around because the access road was all mud. I almost slid off the road into the ditch. So, I went and did this instead. I arrived shortly before sunset and went to the lower highpoint overlooking the creek. It was cold, the views of Black Mesa covered in snow were nice, and I have to work for the next 5 days, so I went over to the real high point. I hiked back in the dark. This appears it is the only accessible hike in the area during a snowy winter. The dirt roads are mud, snow covers the higher terrain, and even this area had snow on the north faces, but it was still hikable.

I had to get out of the house and do something and with the nasty fog and low clouds, this was all I could think of. It was late, so I parked at the nearby school and went through their gate to access the area. Good thing I got back when I did, because the security patrol was getting ready to lock the entire place down. I guess crime here is ridiculous. Anyway, I crossed the low area and went up the ramp with the big "K" painted on it. Down a small gully and back up to the top of the high point between the meadow area and the pond. More or less back as I came.

Cold and nasty, but I set out to explore the Toes. It's an interesting area, and it is nice that it is close-by and easy to get to. I started out trying to reach the top of the rounded rock, but gave up on that when I could see no clear way to the summit. I Crossed a low grassy area and headed west to see what was over the hill. I ended up at a nice overlook that is just east of the highpoint. From up top I could hear Laguna Creek down below. I had limited time, so I started back. I estimate 2.5 miles, and added in an extra hundred feet since I ended up going up and down several times.
