| no partners | | Finally got around to posting this triplog. I have hiked Stony Brook several times - there are several trails that are usually very well traveled during the summer months. I chose a day in the middle of the week and I was rewarded with very little company. An easy hike up the gorge - there are MANY gorges in NY and then I had a decision - hike down the same way or the opposite side - I wimped out and hiked down the easy way, the main trail, way I came up.
All in all a fun lil hike with 3 decent sized waterfalls and 2-3 minor ones that were smaller but still cool. Only regret was leaving my phone in the car and being too lazy to retrieve it.
At the beginning of the hike is a large natural/man made pool. Natural in that the sides are all rock, man made in that it was dammed up creating the pool. A decent place to jump in if the temps warrant it.
Very easy hike - I have seen many many kids and older folks who have done it and were pumped to see what it has to offer. |
