This is one vigorous hike, especially at Ron's pace. We encountered a lot more people on this hike than our previous visit. Of course it was freezing cold the last time we were there, and the weather was glorious on this trip. It was my turn to get a photo with the monster tree: http://hikearizona.com/photo=365078.
Portola Redwoods is definitely one of the best spots in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Only 1 banana slug sighting.
