| no partners | | Somewhere in the middle of prom on Saturday night (don't judge!  ) and with the influence of some of the liquor I had smuggled in, I decided to get up at 4:30 and go for a scenic drive. I did the paved part in the dark and thoroughly enjoyed the Apache Trail in early morning light.
Saw a handful of cars along the way all headed east including only one-near collision with a boat-trailer. Didn't get caught behind another westbound car until reaching Goldfield, which is pretty much the best way to drive this road.
I knew it had been graded recently (thanks to Mr Squishy and Toonces driving his Saturn Ion) and sure enough, it was high-speed all the way. Never hit 70, but had it in the 60s a few times.  
Hit the 100k rollover between Fish Creek and Canyon Lake. Nice milestone for a properly-used taco! 
Despite numerous stops and photos along the way, the trip between First Water and Campaign was 5 minutes less coming back on the Apache Trail than it had been on the paved highway eastbound portion, meaning I flipped the google maps estimate by more than half an hour. Of course the googs probably knows that most of the time you'll be driving behind somebody who thinks the speed limit is 25. 
I was back in bed a little after 10, and woke up in time to catch the end of the Seattle game. Good Sunday!  |
