| partners | | This was a ripper of a hike. Did this with Ron, and for once I beat him to the top by a few minutes. The first 4 miles or so provide a nice workout, and the trail is in decent shape. The connector trail between Stoney Ridge and Granite Peak trails is in really rough shape, and it's steep. I caught a 5th wind for the last 1/2 mile up to the top. There used to be a fire lookout here so whoever worked here must have been in great shape. The summit has phenomenal views of Mount Shasta and a good portion of Northern California as well. The hike down was pretty rough as we went pretty quickly.
We camped at Minersville Campground on Trinity Lake at perhaps the best campsite I've ever camped at. Great weekend. |
