Second time around the bend, this time in the late morning after breakfast. We're having tremendous success with our reds and yellows. Vermilion flycatchers, summer tanagers and cardinals are proving easy to spot amongst the lush green vegetation. Warblers and goldfinches are always on the move but not impossible to identify. All in all, it's proven to be a fun trip and my birding skills are getting whipped into shape.

By the time we got to Arivaca it was too warm and too late in the day to expect much from birding. But we at least got to scope the place out as we'll be visiting again during the course of the weekend. Buenos Aires is home to a unique ecosystem, unlike anything else in Arizona.

Out Arivaca way Sunday. Started the day with a short hike near town. I have spotted Painted Redstarts here on past visits, but not this time. The summer rains are just beginning, so I expect there will be a lot more water here in the near future. Everything still very dry right now. However, there have been some downpours in the past few days, as evidenced by the debris on the highway at wash crossings coming in from Amado. May it continue! :D
