I don't need no stinking shuttle or Pumpkin loop revised to be a little less pumpkin

Took this off the calendar mainly because of smoke from all the forest fires burning in the area. It became apparent half way up Heizer that although it was clear at the house the winds were blowing smoke into the Springs and consequently the first few Miles of the Barr trail which made it kind of hard to breath. Once I got above the treeline it was better. I'm not going to lie even w/ adjustments so it's not off trail it's a pumpkin. It could be done as a two or three day depending on your aversion to death marches. There is camping at the Barr camp and a sign that says no camping w/ in 100' of the trail so I guess you could forgo the overnight fee at Barr Camp and still use the toilets for free if you wanted to. Also, camp sites all around The crags trailhead and camp ground, as well as Ring the Peak.

Above the treeline it was nice lots of Marmots, Flowers, and green. The views along the Ring to Peak which I missed when I did this counterclockwise are great. Views of the other side of Pikes Peak Most people don't see as well as views of the continental divide coming down the crags.
It was pretty hot along the ring to peak and I filtered 48 ounces on top of the 80 ounces I brought and the 16 ounce Gatorade I drank up top. Used it all. Nice hike I probably won't do again for awhile.

Hike basically follows Heizer trail to 638 which comes out across the sign 7.8 to summit on Barr to crags down and Ring the Peak to Mt. Esther. Pretty easy to follow well marked. Last half mile to Barr on 638 is in pretty bad shape and the crags trail coming off the ridge to the treeline is washed out in several places and slick especially on tired legs.
