This was my first time being a "Patrol Volunteer" at Daley Ranch. I am still having to limit my hiking distance to around 2 miles or so. My feet started to burn and ache after about a mile, but I sat down a couple of times during the hike, which helped a lot. I am going to try to do three or four miles this coming weekend, but will plan to take time to sit down every mile or so. Also I need to remember to take ibuprofen before the hike. I always bring Tevas in the car to change into.

As a patrol volunteer I wear a bright orange vest and carry a two-way radio and a first aid kit. I had a little bit of training from the City of Escondido, including first aid and CPR. They also ran my fingerprints and did a background check.

I am going to get some Lowa boots like ones I used to have, to see if that will help my feet.
