| no partners | | I learned about this hike through social media and wanted to check it out. I started my day in Bryce Canyon where I car camped the previous two days. I packed up and was heading for Kolob Canyon in NW Zion and stopped to hit this on the way. I had low expectations but was pleasantly surprised.
The first mile is boring as you hike along an old road. Things get more interesting as the canyon tightens up and you have to get your feet wet. I continued on through some narrows and reached the lower falls where two people were descending. The waterfall is picturesque and the climb up the ladder is a lot of fun. Once up top I continued up canyon and really enjoyed this section. There is lots of water and an easy scramble around a small waterfall. A little farther leads to a fun section of slots and then another waterfall with a deteriorated ladder. I decided to turn around here.
The hike out went by quickly and I stayed in the creek longer. There were quite a few people hiking in. I was here on a Wednesday morning. I would guess weekends get very busy. I returned to my jeep and then headed for Kolob Canyon where I planned on backpacking.
This turned out to be a really fun hike and I’m glad I spent the time getting here. It’s short and sweet so have another hike planned in the area. |
