Hike 3 on the day.

I drove past the entrance first (not on purpose) but it worked out, viewing the lighthouse from down below.

The parking lot and trail are paved to the viewpoint up top. Wowzers!

I saw a trail on sat. view that went to the lighthouse, but alas, there was a locked gate.

Well worth the visit if you are in the area.

This was another touristy hike that Jared and I wanted to do, so we swung over to the southeast corner of the island and parked on the short road that made up the "parking lot".

The trail was well-paved, short, and not very steep at all (we wore flip-flops comfortably). About halfway up is a sign with some information about whale-watching (we think we saw some too! If only we'd had binoculars...) and I've read that there's a route you can take down from this sign that leads to some cool tide pools!

At the top of the trail is a small lookout where you can see down to the Makapu'u Lighthouse (you can't actually climb down to it though), and the waves were crazy when we were there. :)
