I hadn't been out here since the last time I was in NC. I thought Deb would enjoy the falls, so we went out to enjoy the green and perfect weather. It was more crowded than I expected for a Tuesday, but not bad at all. Many were splashing in the water, enjoying the day.

Day 3 in NC.

This was going to be an off day... But we got itchy and drove down to the DuPont State Forest to view the waterfalls with the rest of the Memorial Day Weekend masses. As with most trails, the farther you got from the parking lot, the thinner the crowds.

Wide paths, cut through old growth forest and more elevation than I expected.

Triple Falls and High Falls were my favorites, with Grassy Falls nice because of the lack of crowds.

Hooker Falls, a flat 4/10 of a mile from the parking lot, was a zoo.

A very pretty area, with tons more trails, best viewed weekdays or off season.
