There is an info kiosk there with information about the trail as well facts about fish that (I would presume) inhabit the nearby stream. There were actually a couple of groups fishing there on our first visit. The trail starts off as a paved fenced path that took us through a field and across the stream. Once the trail reaches the other side, it becomes dirt and quickly splits up to start the loop. The first time I hiked this was on Tuesday afternoon with my wife. We had hiked about half way in taking the upper path and just finished exploring a trail connection from the Woodruff(?) Rd side when my wife started to not feel well. Not knowing for certain how much further we had to go to complete the loop we turned back. Hating to leave the trail unfinished I came back a couple of days later after my Buena Vista hike. This time I followed the lower path, adjacent to the fenced field. The trail is not really well signed and there might be some confusion for hikers taking this CCW direction. The trail splits again (I'm guessing .5 to .6 miles in), one branch starting to climb the bluff and the other staying level following the fence line. Knowing that this hike was suppose to be a short loop, I took the path that started to climb. (Unsure where the other trail headed off to. Might be part of the frisbee golf course; there were quite a few meandering trails because of that). Within several minutes of taking this branch I had arrived at the juncture where my wife and I had turned around. Continued on and finished the loop. Really not much of a hike. But it is easy, convient and shaded. |
