I've been meaning to hike the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Trail for a while now to find a set of geocaches along its path. The path is well maintained, easy to follow, and has many plaques along the route noting several happenings during the war and memorializing several casualties of the war and/or medal recipients, etc.

Once at the end of the trail, I made a loop off trail to find a string of geocaches hidden back towards the trailhead.

This is a very nice short trail with nice views from along the way, especially the top.

I got off work at 7am and was meeting some friends to go hit some 4x4 trails near Vistancia. I arrived 30 minutes earlier than one of my friends, so I started to explore the area. On my way back, I noticed a flag on top of a hill with a few plaques close by. I still had a few minutes so I decided to hike to the top of this hill. After a short distance I came across the actuall trail and continued up. This hike was an unexpected surprise. The trail was named the Vietnam Veterans Memorial trail. ( I cant find any information online about this trail.) The trail is in great condition, and easy to follow. The trail continues another 1/2 mile after the flag. There is 3 or 4 additional benches along this trail. You get a great view of an old mining area.
I wasnt expecting the trail to go this far, so I had to double time it back to my truck. I was just getting back to the truck as my friends showed up. I wish I would have been able to spend more time on this trail. This trail is worth the small drive from the 303 if your in the area.
