I expected this hike to be a workout in terms of elevation gain, but the poor condition of the trail was surprising. I guess most hikers in the area start from elsewhere because this trail hadn't seen a lot of feet from what I saw. I'm glad I did this hike if only to cross it off from the list of possible routes to the top of Mount Diablo. I may get around to doing that one of these years.
The burned area from the Diablo Fire of 2013 is to the left of the trail going up, and has the wildflowers to match up with anywhere.
