This hike has no shade to speak of and would not be fun in hot temps. The trail is in great shape. It's great for hikers, mountain bikers, and your imagination. With all the cool rock formations you could imagine desperado's around every corner . A fair amount of vegetation. I was surprised by how much Crucifix plant was out here. This seems to be a good one for locals. I saw 2 hikers with their dog and a total of 5 mountain bikers. 1 told me how to get to my planned lunch stop and 2 asked me for directions . A fair amount of side trails so it's easy to get off your route. I had route scout so I was good and let them look at it to see where they needed to go.
From there it was off to redneck BBQ for lunch as the book suggested . Nice way to finish the afternoon before the drive home. |
