The pup and I where one of the first hikers on the trail. We did get the Middle Falls to ourselves. On our way back, Middle Falls was getting crowded, with more people on the way.

This is a short trail is an offshoot along the Forest Service McCloud River Trail that extends from Lower Falls, to Middle Falls, then onto Upper Falls. This trail drops from a parking lot/scenic overview off the Forest Service River Loop road that runs roughly parallel to the River Trail. My daughter, Claudia, and I hiked down to the river as part of a scenic drive through the area. The trail down to the river is a combination of a dirt path and a set of wooden stairs that descends quickly to the river's edge. We were quite surprised by the number of people along the river, given the recent wonky weather we've had in the area.

The river was running extremely full due the abundant rain and snow in the past few weeks.
