We parked at Inspiration Point and walked across the road to the Bayview TH. From the fork, the left goes to Cascade Falls and the right goes into the Desolation Wilderness. It was overcast and pleasant. We took the short hike to the Cascade Falls first before the crowds hit. Definitely a high reward-to-effort ratio hike. We spent about an hour at the falls before crowds started to show up.

We went back to the fork and took the right into the Desolation Wilderness toward South Maggie's Peak, the taller of the two Maggies. Surprisingly we only saw one couple ahead of us the entire hike. We pretty much had the entire mountain to ourselves the entire time. Probably people didn't like to deal with the snow and most were happy enough going to the Cascade Falls. We were not able to follow the trail at places because of the snow and ended up on the ridgeline, which we traversed on to the summit of the South Maggie's. It added some mileage and more difficulty, but allowed us to take in the views of the other side from much different angles, which were quite awesome! We spent an hour on the summit overlooking Tahoe, Emerald Bay, Cascade Lake, Granite Lake (still mostly frozen), and Fallen Leaf Lake. Heavenly and Freel Massif were across afar. The views were surreal! A great honeymoon hike :)
