Hiked Timber Creek Overlook with Victoria as part of the Kolb Canyon portion of or Zion Trip.

This one was short but sweet. With the winter storm rolling in the views of the Canyon were constantly changing with a dusting of snow and clouds intermittently obscuring some details. It was beautiful and we pulled over several times on the way up and down on the road to the trailhead to take in the views and shoot some photos.

The trail itself was a continuation of these views being slightly farther away from the Canyon but higher up and so provided a slightly different perspective. The clouds, rain, and sleet were rolling through during the short hike so the window of opportunity to take in the views was constantly changing.

An increase in the volume of rain coming down drove us back to the trailhead and the car. This one is well worth the detour to see, it was spectacular!

Katie and I headed up to the Kolob area to escape the afternoon crowds of Zion. We did this short little hike with a great views to stretch our legs some and then made a few stops at various pullouts and trailheads in the area.

The trail to the viewpoint was in great shape and the hike was generally pleasant with some nice views. The trail gets warm and there is no shade, plan accordingly.

road trip to utah with my nebraska friend sue
in 2009 we hit the north rim, zion and bryce
in 2016 we saw natural bridges, arches and canyonlands
this year the plan got revised a few times, and we decided on zion, bryce and capitol reef
hadn't been to the kolob canyons area of zion, so we got there late afternoon
hiked taylor creek to the double arch alcove
pleasant hike with about 40 easy creek crossings and a couple of cabins along the way
the alcove made for a good destination
had time to hike the short timber creek overlook
great views, very windy, finished in the dark
stayed in hurricane and had dinner at alberto's - good cheap mexican food
always a bonus to get in some new hikes on a travel day :)
