A hike we hadn't done since 2014, so decided to head back for a quick afternoon out.
Just as nice as we remembered with great views to Valley of Fire at our turn-around. And a fun little slot canyon on the way back.

Saw no one else on (or off) trail. Just a couple folks at the trailhead who tried to start some kind of political argument with us as we got going from the parking lot.

A quick day hike up to some sandstone outcroppings in a canyon. Unless you are really, really into sandstone, the destination wasn't all that exciting. The good part came on the way back, when we hiked through a limestone slot canyon. Caves everywhere. You got that good, creepy feeling that something sinister might pop out on you at any moment. And, plenty of deer or bighorn bones to add to the effect. Also, lots of fossils in the limestone.

So, the goal may not have been all that great, but the hike back easily made up for everything.
