Probably a little late in the year to hike stuff like this, but I didn't get over here like I wish I had in the summer. The summer pictures are much prettier. Still, I wanted a trip to the Spring Mountains this year.

Fun hike; pretty challenging but not extreme since it is later November. It would be a lot of fun when not cold. Today wasn't windy, so that was good. Really, the hardest part was the scree slope. Very quiet which was enjoyable. Silence was broken at various times by chickadees more often than people. I got cold while on the summit, and wore my winter hat the entire time I hiked down. The temperature felt about 35 on the summit, and my car said it was only a few degrees above that in the canyon at the TH.

Smoke from the Woolsey and other California fires was noticeable, but the air here seemed clean. It did limit distance views, however. Because of the various layers or inversion layers in the atmosphere, I believe I could see Telescope Peak.

Rather than continue on the part of the North Loop if time allowed, I relaxed and walked around the summit plateau. Lots of bristlecone up here.
