10 mile trail run. Mt. Esther to RTP Catamount creek trail to Garden of Eden meadow to Thomas trail to catamount falls trail home. Nice day lots of snow on Pikes Peak. Ran into two Groups Mt. Esther and three groups on Thomas trail. One dude on Esther had shorts t shirt and knee high leather cowboy boots. I have never seen that style rocked anywhere! Looked extremely uncomfortable. Aspens looking great and wild strawberries starting to come up!

Did this trail with Micah as I had not done the Bratton Connector trail which connects this portion of the green Mountain Falls trails to Thomas trail. Temps were nice going up. Both trails are severely washed out in places from the recent floods. Halfway through Bratton it started pouring rain and Micah was a good sport. Thunder could be heard echoing through Ute pass, but was on the other side of the canyon we were in. It hailed on us a little as well. Both dogs are wet messy mops and the rasberries appeared to be finished off by the recent heavy rains. Catamount Falls were running heavy from the rain. You can use this trail to connect Thomas up the Garden of Eden Meadow above the falls and ultimately up Catamount Creek to North and South Catamount Reservoir. When Dewey trail was first built there was a trail that continued (still exists that continued to the resevoirs. It is higher up the canyon and apparently crosses private property. I hiked it early on never seeing any signs. A couple weeks after completion, people were hiking this just like I did since it was posted on Dewey trailhead map and were being turned away by an armed landowner. Christian Keesee owns the land at the trailhead and apparently purchased another 139 acres and volunteers built the Bratton trail which I assume is named for Dick Bratton who is the head of the Green Mountain Falls trail committee and organized the volunteers to build and maintain the GMF trails.

Foraging hike for some prime wild raspberries. Noah had no problem keeping up with the whisperer’s pace as there were raspberries along the entire trail. Followed up with homemade ice cream in GMF. Dogs appreciated the chance to stretch their legs as well. Noah did the entire trail with exception of Hiking up Hondo to the trailhead. I got the honor of carrying him all 30+ lbs. up the steep road. I’m sure there will be some raspberries for the next couple of weeks, but I have yet to see strawberries this year.

Posted this to attach pics to Geocode. This is a small section of the Green Mountain Falls trails which connects to all the others as well as RING the Peak. It connects via RTP to Mt. Esther trail in my town as well as North, South and Crystal Creek Reservoir. It also connects now to a connector trail to Dewey Peak as well as going to Garden of Eden Meadows and up to the Catamount trail which also connects to RTP.

This particular part passes Catamount Falls, Crystal Falls, as well as Cable Falls with a 200’ walk past the Crystal Falls turnoff. Cable Falls are directly above Crystal Falls On Thomas which then a little farther East connects to Crystal Trail rising over 1000’ AEG in less than a mile up to Crystal Creek Reservoir and RTP. I have never counted, but been told there is over 50 switchbacks during that 1000’ climb.

Wasn’t ever sure how to set up a description for all these connections because they all connect.

Hit the neighborhood waterfall trail with Micah. Hot and hazy with the nearby fires. Micah can found the first raspberries of the year. Daddy Dan care is minimizing the big hikes, but it’s always nice to get out with the monkeys.
