Day 2
Today started with a rough 4x4 trail to get to the Mount Bangs Trailhead. Coming from the West(Scenic, AZ,) you will need a high clearance vehicle. I did explore the roads to the Southeast, after the hike, and they didn't seam as rough. Its just a longer drive. I started the hike around 5:30am. The sun was just coming out. With out any shade on this trail, I was fortunate to have cloud cover for 98% of this hike. Once I gained some elevation, I was able to see some monsoon storms from almost every direction. It did sprinkle a couple times on the way down the mountain. Overall it was a great morning hike. After the hike, I explored some of the roads in the area. I then headed back to the campsite to wait for a couple friends. When they finally showed up, we continued the trip. We headed to an old house, then toward Grand Gulch Canyon. It sprinkled the whole way there. It was nice to keep the dust down, but the wet roads did dirty up the trucks. Grand Gulch Canyon was the unknown part of my last trip in the area. We did turn around last time on this trail. This time we where ready. Half way through the canyon we decided to make camp.

Grand Gulch Canyon was the "Unknown" part of the trip. We where not sure of the condition of the road. We planned this route because it was a short cut through a canyon to Grand Gulch mine. This section was rough. It was the hardest section of the trip. We where close to the end of the trail, and we decided to turn around. My buddy had a flat tire, and we didn't want to risk another tire going flat. We then headed out of the canyon and toward St George. We found a campsite just out of town to crash for the night.

For some reason I didn't mark this canyon on the final map...
This trip was designed to hit 100,000k on my Xterra..
