This was a cool hike that began by the I-5 at a PCT trailhead and continued up to Root Creek trail to end at Root Creek Falls for an impressive view of the falls with Castle Dome looming beyond.

Awesome hike that begins on the PCT just of the I-5 near Castle Crags. It begins with some uphill through forest, flattens out for a bit, then ends with more uphill and some scrambling to reach the best viewing spots of the falls. The falls are nice on the own, but even more incredible is the backdrop of the sheer face of Castle Dome seen above the falls. I'm glad to have finally went on this hike and was more than impressed with the destination.
