Beautiful day in northern Idaho and a great day for the Pulaski Tunnel Trail. Stream was flowing nicely and the trail was relatively busy. Good trail conditions - and the historical signage along the way is in good shape.

Quick hike while everyone else was still sleeping. Easy hike, the trail is in excellent shape. No views since you’re down in a canyon surrounded by trees. At the end, crossed the creek over to the tunnel entrance, which is barred to prevent access. Steep drop down to the creek there, but was able to hold onto branches to keep from sliding. Cool, but humid. Did not see anyone else.

Cool & cloudy when we started, but no rain. The trail was still soaked from the rain yesterday though. Easy hike uphill along West Fork Placer Creek, and beautiful scenery. There were a lot of signs along the trail that explained the events from the Great Fire of August 1910. Very interesting history, and I’m surprised a movie hasn’t been made about it. Or maybe one has and I just don’t know it because I rarely watch movies.

The second half of the trail is a little steeper, but still pretty easy. Seeing the tunnel at the end was sobering, and with as green as the mountainsides were today, it was hard to imagine a fire raging through them. Easy hike back down, and we passed several hikers. Obviously a popular trail in the area, and it’s best to get an early start for good parking.
