We've both turned 50 and we're celebrating together. The gate was closed, so we had to park further down which made finding the trail difficult. It ended up adding an extra mile to our total. At the top is "Ale' of a View" which is an overlook over Heber Valley. It was spectacular and worth the extra half mile. Coming down the north side we went through some mud and snow, which was an extra fun bonus for Darlene (from AZ)! Right after the hike, we went to the Homestead Crater in Midway for a nice, warm soak in the natural hot springs. The long hike didn't feel like 7.74 miles when spending time with someone special! I don't think there was a moment of silence as we chatted the entire way!! |
