I attempted to reach this peak after work and misread the distance. It was midday, hot, and further than I anticipated so I didn't have enough time or water to complete the hike. I promised myself I would redo Gobbler's Knob at a future date, most likely when it's much cooler and I've got plenty of time. It was a well trafficked trail and quite dusty even with the lush vegetation, pine and aspen trees. The extraordinary feature was the abundance of butterflies. I've never seen so many with all the wild flowers. I took a video but I can't post it here. I look forward to repeating this hike. At the top of Gobbler's Knob, I should be able to see Reynolds Peak that's near Dog Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The map shows the two peaks are near each other. |
